OK... so I said I'd update more often this year, what an idle promise that was! Sorry, but the muse has kind of been difficult to encourage recently. Sometimes it just isn't there... However here are two images from recent weeks. The first is an adaptation of a piece done to a brief. I spent a bit more time on it after the deadline and turned it into something else purely for me. The second is a bit (!) darker and is called 'Beast'. There is a bit of history to this image but that's another story, it's inspired by an old photograph of the mark of the beast!

Excellent update Aly :) Love the eyes on Beast.
Great work ! love the color.
Wow, Aly, you got involved with these.
I feel a little too involved with the hands in Beast, but I forgive you. Teddy sets up camp comfortably between Gil Elvgren and Ron Embleton, making it slightly more fabulous than usual.
Hold on a cotton pickin' minute. I thought being unkind to bears was my job!
Pete
I agree on the hands Pete. They are meant to be... uncomfortable and disturbing, using my own clumsy dishpans as reference. So I'm going to work on them a bit more I think. Hehe... thank you!
wow, stunning as always!
The beast is amazing ...
The light is fantastic and I really love the skin tones.
Congrats ... I want to eat Wacom again >_<
Yeah these are great dude. I agree with Jon - those eyes on Beast were freakn' me out!
just saw your work on the cover of Scifi Art Now in WHSmiths; looks ace!
Thank you Ben, but I'm confused. I've not been involved with Sci-Fi Art Now at all. Do you have an image or more info? :o)
hey Aly. I might be confused about the magazine title, but it used a cropped version of your sky angel (http://www.darkrising.co.uk/Sky_Angel.htm)pic as the cover.
Also, while i was hunting for info about the mag/book I came across these figurines http://www.wolf-moon.co.uk/images/NEM3454.bmp
As you haven't mentioned them I thought I'd let you know in case you weren't aware!
Thanks Ben, that makes sense. I haven't seen it, but that'll be an IFX thing I expect. I'll have to look for it. As for the figurines, I gave permission for those. I've just been awful at promoting them! :D They were produced by Nemesis Now, and there are four different ones. I'll post up a link at some point. Thank you for your eagle-eyed-ness!
Beautiful!!!

Watcha stranger!!!
How are things?
I had forgotten what your blog was called and just clicked through to it from my list of inspirations/friends.
Glad to see you are still cracking out the masterpieces.
We all still miss you at work, a year on now! I am enjoying it far more than I ever thought I would. Great fun!
